My 4 month old

Is going to be just like his older brother I think.  Matthew was so excited and interested when David first started setting up his train track and had enjoyed touching it.

A is for Ape

Monday was an absolutely beautiful day here in Seattle!  Sharon and I had done our homework and knew it would be so we got the boys ready, packed a lunch and head into the city.  We had a great time and really enjoyed our time at the zoo.

Jaguar                                            Yellow Frog

Golden Lion Tamarin

Gorilla Family
The baby in the picture on the right had just finished nursing from the mom.

African Savanna
This exhibit had several animals, we were able to see the zebra, giraffe, and gazelles

This was the wildest animal by far!

Matthew stayed awake for most of our visit.  He enjoyed looking around.  I couldn't see (because I had him in the front carrier) but apparently he was just so observant of all that he could see.

We also enjoyed watching the penguins, there were some baby penguins in the exhibit although they stayed in the nests.  It was super cool.

This was a very large zoo we only saw about half of the animals on exhibit.  If the kids were older and we were there for a full day we would be able to see all the animals.  We did get to see the giraffes get transferred from the savannah exhibit to their house, so that was really cool to be able to see them so much closer.

Vashon Island

Monday, was a nice day here in Washington and so we went off to Vashon, Island.  We spent of our time at the Light House at Robinson Point and on the beach there.  We had a great time combing the ground for shells and other cool things we could find.
Matthew with his feet in the sand, he never even batted an eye.

There was drift wood all along the shore.  Some of it was really cool.  It was easy to find the pieces that had been there a long time compared to others that hadn't been on the shore as long.

There were a few crab shells on the beach.  This one was the biggest that I found.  The other ones were just little.  It was really neat to find them, I was so excited to show the shells to David but I think I enjoyed them more than he did.  David just wanted to dig.

These are jellyfish that washed up on shore some time ago and have dried out.  The rusty brown one is what is hanging from David's stick.  David wanted to bring the jellyfish home....I said no and made him leave it.  It was really cool to see how the jellyfish look when they were dead, sad that they were washed up but cool to see them without getting hurt.

This is the lighthouse on Pointe Robinson.

If you have read Red Ranger Came Calling by Berkley Breathed, here's the proof.  We saw the bike in the tree.  We also read the true story about the bike in the tree.  It's not very high up in the tree, if you look at the picture on the left you can see the top of David's head, he's right up at the tree.

Movie Time

David had some friends over for the day last week.  In the afternoon as a part of quiet time they got to watch a movie.  This is the three of them with their pillows, blankets, and various stuffed animals to watch Ratatouille.

Matthew

We have roll over!
We are so proud of our little guy!
We made him do it a total of three times - once with each of lying on the ground - this is the third time.

Life on the farm

After Cassie's party she wanted to show us the baby lambs at the livestock center.  We couldn't all go since our car was the only one there amongst the 4 of us siblings and my little family.  Brian opted to go home and do homework, I stayed at Cassie's to feed Matthew so Cassie, Kelly, Dustin and David went on a fieldtrip.

I know you're wondering why David is trying to pull the lamb out of the pin by the head....he's not, just holding the lamb's head.

This little lamb really loved David, it's the same lamb in all the pictures.
The baby calf was a very new baby.
Aunt Cassie was so proud that David was taking a liking to all these animals.

Waiting on Cassie

We went up to Rexburg to throw Cassie (my sister) a surprise birthday party (the party was 2 weeks early).  While we were waiting in the lounge David found a way to entertain himself on the tread mill.  One of Cassie's nice friends supervised until Dustin and I realized he was missing and figured out where he was.
