Let's Go Fly a Kite!

With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, Oh, Oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

When you send it flyin' up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over 'ouses and trees
With your fist  'olding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Let's go fly a kite!
Do you remember watching Mary Poppin's and at the end everyone is flying a kite?  I always thought how nice that all of the kites are behaving and flying properly.  Well.....
I know that kites don't fly that nicely in real life.  Last Wednesday I took David to the dollar store and we bought David his first kite, a Jack Sparrow kite (aren't you proud Cassie?).  We finally pulled it out of the packaging yesterday.  We had a very successful kite-flying experience after dinner.  Our experience was so fun and
David loved it so much that we decided kite-flying would be an
excellent FHE activity.
We had lots of wind but the kite just wouldn't fly as well as it did yesterday.  David's favorite part was when the kite would dive into the earth and he could run to go put it up in the air.  We still had a good time we just spent a lot more time chasing the kite than we did actually flying it.  Here's to flying a kite!
