Ah, Fall

The joys of late September, October and part of November.....
Just think of all the leaves, costumes, candy, pumpkins, corn mazes, farms, hay rides....

Just look at this breath taking pumpkin!  Isn't it just remarkable?

It's that time of year again when we start picking out that perfect pumpkin.  Then we have to decide how to carve it in some new, cool, interesting, intriguing or fun way.  When I was checking up on MSN today there was a series of fall related stories.  Click here to get the dish on this beautiful pumpkin and other fun pumpkins.  I can honestly say that I will never think of pumpkin carving in the same way.  And here's a little test for you....
Go to the website.
Guess which pumpkin I will be trying out this year.  Put your answers in the comments section and I'll send the winner a fall treat.

From the link above you can also find some fun fall treats, how to host a fall party, perfect pumpkin pie (if you like that sorta thing), and pumpkin center pieces.
Enjoy!

Tractors

These tractors were present on campus just after we got back into town.  On Tuesday, the 16th I took the boys to go see them.  The other little boy in the pictures is Evan I watch him on Tuesday's after preschool.  The boys sure had fun.

These are the vehicles in the picture
1. Tractor;  2. Harrow & Tractor;  3. Tractor Loader;  4. Skid-steer loader;  5. Baler & Tractor

Northwest Trek

I have to say that this was one of the coolest things that I have ever done.  Northwest Trek is an animal park, obviously, except that it's a large space of land that has all he natural animals there.  We rode a tram through the truly wild part of the park and we saw: elk, bison, moose, mountain goats, big horn sheep, and swans.  Then we were able to walk on a path that took us to some other animals that were in natural habitat but a little bit restricted.  We were able to see:  cougar, bobcat, lynx, bald eagle, grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, foxes, wolverines, beavers, racoons, and a river otter.  This was soooo cool.  If you are ever in the Seattle area I highly recommend the drive the Northwest Trek.

The Park

David and David at the park.  It was a really nice park.  We were able to walk down the the lake and out onto the pier.  There were blackberry bushed lining the path and of course we picked some.  The red berries are unripened blackberries, they don't taste good.  David really enjoyed the blackberries, his face and hands were so stained, can you tell?

A Story

There once was a boy named David.
He loved to pick up bugs and observe
them.  David loved little bugs.  One
day he found a green butterfly and had
to bring it home on a stick to his mommy.
Oh how David loved this butterfly!  The
only problem was that the butterfly wanted
to go home to his mommy and daddy, or at
least that's what David's mommy told him.
David was curious about where this butterfly's
home was.  David's mommy said that the
butterfly lived in a tree.  David wanted the
butterfly to make it home so he told the butterfly
which direction to fly.  Apparently the green
butterfly didn't speak human and needed some
help getting to the tree.  David daddy carried the
butterfly to the tree.  David was anxious about
how the green butterfly was doing in the tree
and went to check on him.  David's daddy went too.

David wanted to sit in the tree since there was no
butterfly present, David's daddy put him in the tree.
David didn't want to leave the tree.  David's daddy
tried to get David down by saying they could eat
dinner if they went home.  David said he wanted his
plate in the tree.  David also said he wanted to sleep
in the tree.  David said it was "David's tree house".
David's daddy tried to bribe him out of the tree but
David caught onto that really quick.  David helped in
the bribes, and this is how it went:

Daddy:  David do you want
David:  a drink of milk?
Daddy:  a drink of milk?
David:  no.  A cup of water?
Daddy:  a cup of water?
David:  no.....

David's daddy tried walking away saying that he would
see him later and asked where David would sleep.
David was sitting stradled on a branch and laid his head
down and said, "I sleep".  This continued until David's
daddy found something that David wanted that couldn't
be in the tree....letters on the computer.  David joyfully
got out of the tree and upon entering the house
proclaimed LETTERS!

Later in the evening after dinner David suddenly ran to
the door and tried to exit.  David was off to his tree house.
David's daddy brought him back inside.  David is now
sleeping in his bed....inside his mommy and daddy's house.

The End

Watering the Garden

The day after we got back to Alamosa
I had unpacked our suitcases,
David grabbed the fire extinguisher
that goes to his fireman costume,
and proceeded to water the garden.

Trains!!!

David got this train for Christmas.  Due to the size of the train and the size of our apartment the train is staying in Washington until we have a larger space.  David loves this train and well......was like a kid in the candy store when we went to the train store.

Remlinger Farms

Remlinger Farms was a fun farm to go to.  David got to climb on a school bus, jump in a hay jump, run through the hay maze, ride a roller coaster, ride the flying pumpkins, drive an old time car and ride the little train.  We had such a good time.  Here are few pictures of the fun we had.

When all was said and done on the way home it was time for a treat.  Milkshakes from a milkshake stand.  The milkshakes were great but the sign made me laugh, take a look:

Builder David

Grandma and Grandpa worked on their steps from the garage down to the house.  David was very interested in this project so decided to help.  David put all those wood screws in the brackets, he measured and used tools on his own piece of wood.  When all was said and done he was ready for a snack.

Circus

Before the circus we had a meet and greet with some of the performers.
We learned alot about elephant teeth:
1. elephants are born with their first set of teeth.
2.  they have four: two upper teeth and two lower teeth.
3.  they get six sets of teeth in a lifetime.
4.  they are herbivores so their teeth are meant for mashing and grinding
5.  a full-grown adult tooth can weigh 9 pounds or more.

Weenie Roast

...in the backyard at Grandma and Grandpa's.  We had hot dogs (of course) and then made s'mores.
