Hell's Kitchen

Last night for FHE we went to "Hell's Kitchen" with two other families in our ward and that live on Faculty Drive with us, Clint & Alisha Sowards and Thom & Laci Quist. The land is down in Manassa and belongs to the Sowards' family, Clint's grandfather. We had a weenie roast and s'mores. Quite a few members of the Sowards' family were there and so we met lots of people and David had 3 other 2-3 year olds to play with - all little boys! Those little boys loved throwing rocks into the little stream and cheered for each other every time. David was also able to climb the rocks with Dustin, sit in the Devil's Chair with Clint and then again with Dustin. David also road on the ATV for the first time and loved it, he went twice; it was too dark so I didn't get any pictures.

All the little boys (minus one) are looking for the next rock to throw. Sorry I don't remember the names of the other two boys.

Dustin and David at the top of the rocks. David had started off by himself and we had to make him stop so that Dustin could help him cross the stream and make sure that he wouldn't fall straight down the rock face (see next picture).

We really had a great time and are excited to go back again and maybe possibly camp according to Clint.

Breakfast

This morning we had popover pancakes or German pancakes.  All previous times that I have had German pancakes I have thought, "these are okay, not my favorite".  Well now that I have been introduced to making them in muffin tins I think they are great.  You get a nice little cup to put all of your fillings into.  We of course had berries and whipped cream on top of our pancakes.  Fruit and whip cream always come before syrup or sugar or other toppings.  David really likes to call them 'cakes'.  I love having pancakes this way, it was so much fun!

Sand Dunes

My mom, dad and two sisters came up so that we could all go to the sand dunes together. We had planned on playing in the water and hiking a little. There was so much wind that just made it cold that playing in the water was removed from the agenda and we just hiked the dunes instead. We had a great time! We really didn't make it very far into the sand dunes but we found a good little bowl that really entertained David and sheltered us from the wind a little bit more.

We all tried our hand at a leap off the dune, for some reason I can't find a picture of my mom doing it.

Just after crossing the creek to get to the dunes. We all had to put our shoes back on. David was getting cold with the wind just whipping right down from the mountains.

We all dug in the sand and found ways to play with it. It was really cool to have a cool wet layer of sand underneath the dry soft layer. We all really did have a fun time at the Sand Dunes. I'm really glad that we went I just wish that it' wouldn't have been windy. I still have wind in my eyes that I haven't been able to get out, it really hurts!

Who Knew????

I had no idea that this was happening!

No wonder it seems like the bird feeder is always empty.  I really had no idea this was going on until my sisters caught the deer in action this morning.

BOY did we have FUN!!!!

....and man did we not prepare properly!

We did a little art project that would make great mother's day gifts.  

This is how things were supposed to go:

1.  Pick out a jar

2.  Finger paint on jar

3.  Let jar dry

This is what actually happened:

1.  Pick out a jar

2.  Finger & hand paint jar, paper, table, hair, and chair

3.  Let jar dry

4.  Wash hands

5.  Take bath

We decided not to wash off his chair to help us know which chair is David's

This is what we should have done:

1.  Put paper on every surface we were working at

2.  Strip David and then put on his painting shirt

3.  Pick out jar

4.  Paint jar

5.  Let jar dry

6.  Wash hands

7.  Redress
