Favorite Things

These are a few of Matthew's favorite things....

Eating dirt
Not just any dirt, potting soil.  If I'm not super watchful he will just grab handfuls out of the pots on the porch.  He picks up small pieces between his thumb and forefinger and puts them in his mouth like he's having a snack of cheerios or puffs.

Croissants
He can't get enough of them.  He will make growling sounds if Dustin eats a bite without putting a bite in his mouth.  Last night Matthew was getting bites from both Dustin & David.  Like father, like sons I guess.

Date Night: Straight No Chaser

Our Fourth Date
October 29, 2010
Dustin was in charge

This was a fun date that we did with Dustin's parents.  Straight No Chaser is an acapella men's group.  There are 10 men that sing together and are touring together in large and not so large cities.  Dustin was able to score us some free tickets after initially turning down his parents on the offer to join them.  We were a little skeptical about the group at first since we knew nothing about them.  I must say that we really enjoyed the show!  The songs were sung great and the show was like watching a bunch of really talented friends singing together but really just goofing around with each other in front of a large crowd of people.  I am so glad that we were able to go.  They did some mash up songs and one of my favorites was a Lady GaGa one - it was hilarious!

I'm glad that Cassie, my sister, was able to come down from Rexburg to watch the boys and spend the night so that we could go.  We had all spent the afternoon in Idaho Falls, where the concert was to be, and so it was just easier to get Cassie from Rexburg than to get to boys back to Pocatello just to go back to Idaho Falls.

Here are a few videos of Straight No Chaser - none of these were from our show but we heard them.

Date Night: Movie & Appetizers/Drinks

Our third date
October 22, 2010
Dustin was in charge

We recently started using Red Box - it's a great invention, I'm a big fan!  Dustin sneakily found out what movie I would like to see and Red Boxed it, secretly.  After the kids were in bed out came the champagne flutes, bottles of various sparkling juices, crackers, cheese, balsamic glaze and the movie.  We watched Letters to Juliet.  I know it's a chick flick but honestly Dustin & I very rarely watch a chick flick together.  I was very excited that he picked this to watch with me for our date.  I enjoyed to movie.  The drinks and snacks were fun to have during the movie instead of traditional popcorn - it's like we were being super fancy during our date!  After the movie we watched The Office and went to bed.  No kids woke up or needed anything during our date so it was nice to be together.

Date Night: a Couch, a Drink, a Book

Our Second Date.
October 15, 2010
Dustin was in charge.

We picked up the new book The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan.  It was just released on the 12th and we've been reading it together.  We pulled out the champagne flutes, a chilled bottle of sparkling orange juice from Ikea and cuddled on the couch.  We take turns reading the chapters; usually when we read together we alternate every chapter but since with book has the same character position for 2 chapters we are alternating every 2 chapters.  So far the book has been very fun to read and although we don't get much time to read together we have been enjoying it.  If you read the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series you will enjoy this new series, The Heros of Olympus.
