The Cougar Mountain Zoo is just on the other side of the mountain Dustin's parents live on. Every year they hold a Reindeer festival. We took David to the festival, during the day really just extra chances to be with and see the reindeer. David got to feed the reindeer apples, which they loved, we all sat on Santa's lap for a picture, wrote letters to Santa and sat in Santa's sleigh. Then we also visited with some of the other animals at the zoo. It's just a little zoo, smaller than Pueblo's but still lots of fun and child friendly.
A funny thing happened while feeding the alpacas. Apparently alpacas don't like you if you are just standing around (close to the fence) and not feeding them. I was trying to get a picture of David feeding the alpacas when one of them had had enough of me and spit at me. I had no idea that they did that. We all were a little startled and got a good laugh. I did get a pick of David despite the spitting alpaca.
