Halloween Fun

We had quite a bit of halloween fun this year. This is a good sampling of the events we participated in.

Ward Halloween Party - Saturday, October 25, 2008. David enjoyed doing a cake walk like activity.

Faculty Drive Halloween Party - Thursday, October 30, 2008. David enjoyed fishing. Dustin and I both bobbed for apples, it was fun.

Faculty Drive Halloween decoration contest. I got some spider web stuff and I made a bunch of spiders out of egg cartons (there are more detailed pictures at the end).

Halloween Carnival at the Rec Center. David had a hard time with the concept of playing games for prizes with so many activities and people in one room.

Trick or Treating - Friday October 31, 2008. We went trick or treating with some friends of ours the Wubbens. David and Abby had a great time going from house to house.

After getting in trouble and counting out the tickets he had to return to me for name calling and disobeying...

"Here mom, tickets for making me dinner"

I had to correct him that I don't earn tickets these were tickets he had lost. Still pretty funny though - I had a hard time keeping a straight face.

D: "I'm hungry"

C: "You should have eaten your dinner."

D: "I took four bites to get candy"

"Mom, Lukas broke your head off." The boys had been playing light sabers in the living room and one of my Willow Tree figurines was a casualty - don't worry we just glued it back on.

"I want to take a shower. I don't take baths anymore, I take showers like you guys." And you know what he hasn't had a bath since that day, it has been a shower every week.

"I have a new Emma!" David informed us on the way home from church. Apparently there is a girl named Emma in his primary class and she's a different Emma than when we lived in Fort Collins.

"I live in Pocatello, I like living in Pocatello. I also like living in FortCollinsColorado." Said to Dustin while walking out to the dumpster to take some trash out.

While saying family prayer this is what David said:

"Thankee for the new home we picked out - on the computer"

Too funny, since we just told him today that we would be moving again and he wasn't happy about it but when we showed him pictures of possible places for us to live he got excited.

While Dustin was giving me a hug in the kitchen, David crawled up onto the stool and said,

"I was just makin' sure you guys were kissin'."

Me: You don't have any clothes on

David: Yes, I do

Me: What kind of clothes are you wearing?

David: Naked clothes!

July - September, 209

"Cheeky Chuckle", "Tater Tots", Fussy Funnel", are just a few phrases that David says in frustration, silliness or as an expression of emotion.

In teaching David about the game I Spy, this is what we hear:

"Spy I, withmylittleeye, something that iiisssss....."

"Please Mommy. Please Mommy. Please Mommy. Daddy said yes"

David had asked to drive, Dustin had said in 15 years. David counted to 5 and considered that good to drive.

Wanting to share my smoothie with me and being told he had to finish his milk, David caught me sipping my smoothie and said, "Don't start drinking mommy!"

After looking at the drawing of David and me David commented that he wanted a baby. I asked him what kind of baby he wanted a brother or a sister. He responded with brother, sister, brother. Finally this is what I got from him, "I want a baby sister then a baby brother."

(This was also repeated to Dustin while he caught up on LOST tonight)

Trying to get a very tired little boy to bed....David looks out the window and starts to cry, "But it's not dark! It's not dark!"

On Saturday we told David that we were going to buy kids vitamins to help him get big and strong. Today when I tried to give a vitamin to him he said "I don't want to be big, I want to stay little".
